Art Pants is a 365 day-long-daily-photography-challenge, featuring Will Roegge and Linhbergh Nguyen which was started on November 1st, 2009. Our goal is to each publish one photograph a day for an entire year. But different from usual "photo 365s" out there, we've set ourselves a rules to abide by throughout the year:
1. No photos of anything automobile related
2. No self portraits.
Both of those rules are there to prevent us from going the easy route on taking our daily photos, or in other words, to use a crutch. The purpose of this project is to make the both of us think outside of our usual subjects and expand our creative defaults. The harder we make it upon ourselves, the better off we'll be creatively (or so we hope so!) come Novemeber 1st 2010.
We'll also be having different 'theme weeks' throughout the year. These themes could range from different subject matters; places, portraits, grass, sunrises, landscapes, faces, etc, etc. Or it could even be a technical theme; biggest aperature, smallest aperature, slow shutter speeds, 35mm film, camera phone fast action, etc....
We would love to hear your input throughout the course of the year. If you have ANY ideas for theme weeks or shots you'd like to see, let us know!
Oh, we both love black coffee and we both love Art Pants.

Day #59 – Here is the last in my series of family portraits. The third shot of my mom. Who was riding in the back seat on a mini rod trip to go visit my sister after Christmas. Hi Mom. Shot with a Canon 7D with a Zeiss 35mm f2. I like the background colors...
Day #56 – Brownie is my family’s long haired Dachshund. I picked him out from a pet store as a puppy over 15 years ago. Fifteen is long life for a wiener dog. While he’s now grey in the face, blind, and mostly deaf – he is still one of the most unique animals I’ve...
It’s great to be back in my hometown of San Jose, California. It’s a completely different world from my 110 octane world. Wholesome is the word that best describes this city. This is my nephew. He’s a strange one. He might even be missing a few nuts and bolts. It’s rare to find this little...
Day #55 – Spent the last few days with my Mom and Dad. The last two images are great representations of my parent’s personalities. Glad I was able to spend the holidays with them. Like this photo! NEVERMIND!
Day #54 – My family is becoming accustomed to me photographing them. Which has allowed to get the more natural images that are better representative of their personalities. Not what someone is trying to present when they realize that they are being photographed. Here is a quiet moment with my dad as he enjoys a...
Day #53 – Continuing in my mini series of family photos, here is my sister Lindy and my dad. Lindy came up from Columbus to celebrate the holidays with us. She has been very busy with her job as a nurse since graduating as a RN in the spring. Hi Fish Dog. Like this photo!...
Day #52 – Part of the Roegge family Christmas tradition is visiting my Mom’s side of the family in Pittsburgh. My Grandma McDowell hid behind her hands for a few photos, but I was finally able to get this shot. Grandma has a big birthday coming up in 2010 and it is always nice to...
Day #51 – For day number fifty I shot my mom on the phone. A day later, I followed my dad around with the Canon 7D until he smiled. He was wondering why I was shooting so many photos of him. I think I’m going to stay in the mini-theme of my family and taking...
I always tell people that who photograph to try their hardest to ignore my presence. Usually, they’re all pretty good at it. There are moments when I do catch them glance the camera. Some of those moments are awkward and “off,” but sometimes you catch a glimpse of actual naivete or real intimacy –voyeuristic even....
