Day #114 – Thuy earned massive Kabob points with Linhbergh’s posts. She is going to earn more with this post as well. Somewhere in the bokeh’d background of this image is the Grand Canyon. But who cares!? There is human subject – which is far more interesting than a bunch of eroded rock beds. As the police officer who pulled me over for speeding on the way to the canyon said “Don’t worry the Grand Canyon isn’t going anywhere…”

There’s a story to everything in life. Even the simplest to the most intriguing of things have something to tell. Take this abandoned house for example. This house looks as though it was just recently abandoned. All the other buildings in the area looked as though they’ve been abandoned a lot longer than this house has. Some of the other buildings around the area are burnt to the ground or heavily burnt. Can you believe that this house still has its carpet and in that condition?

There are many questions that come to mind about this mysterious house: What happened here? Why did it take the residents so long to leave this house compared to all the other buildings? Why does this house not have the same damage as the other houses? And most importantly, who lived here?

The only answers that we would get is to let our imagination run wild on the idea of these questions. It’s no real conclusion, but it is the only conclusion we’d all really get.

So, in your mind, what happened here?

Day #113 – “I’m Really Awesome At Being Humble” reads Linhbergh’s t-shirt. Fitting for a man whose metaphorical cube is as large as a desk. Good thing our ladders are upright and to infinity. Storms are inconsequential and cannot distract us from our goals. Now if only my horse would stop licking me and let me climb my ladder…

Day #111 – When I was a kid and living in Ohio my family took a vacation to visit New Mexico and Arizona. We visited the Meteor Crater, the Petrified Forest, Santa Fe, Walnut Canyon, and the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon makes most natural wonders look amateur. Its scale was the first element that caught my attention and even today – as an adult – going back to the Grand Canyon is an overwhelming experience. Seeing the Canyon in winter instead of summer also made for a very different trip. If getting close to the edge of a mile deep cliff face scares you when its dry – imagine what its like when there is snow and ice along the rim.

The Grand Canyon is one of those places that really do live up to all the hype. The moment to step out next to the railing that overlooks the canyon, the need to speak stops dead in its tracks. Even as you stand there looking at the vast expanse, you can’t help but think that you’re just looking at a giant matte painting for some big budgeted Hollywood film! It’s a surreal place to be and it’s one of the few places that really do take your breath away.
