<p>The Grand Canyon is one of those places that really do live up to all the hype. The moment to step out next to the railing that overlooks the canyon, the need to speak stops dead in its tracks. Even as you stand there looking at the vast expanse, you can&#8217;t help but think that you&#8217;re just looking at a giant matte painting for some big budgeted Hollywood film! It&#8217;s a surreal place to be and it&#8217;s one of the few places that really do take your breath away. </p>

<p>The way American abstract expressionist painter, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Diebenkorn">Richard Diebenkorn</a>, broke down his beach side surroundings of Santa Monica, California, in the famous <em>Ocean Park</em> series, into abstract compositions is something that I hugely influences me whenever I take wide landscape style photos. This particular photo has a quite the Diebenkorn influence with the contrasting deep blues, with the orange and reds of the canyon. The photo that it looks more like a flat painting than a gigantic and vast canyon.</p>
<p>Side note: f/8.0 is darn sharp, I have to admit&#8230;</p>
