Art Pants is a 365 day-long-daily-photography-challenge, featuring Will Roegge and Linhbergh Nguyen which was started on November 1st, 2009. Our goal is to each publish one photograph a day for an entire year. But different from usual "photo 365s" out there, we've set ourselves a rules to abide by throughout the year:
1. No photos of anything automobile related
2. No self portraits.
Both of those rules are there to prevent us from going the easy route on taking our daily photos, or in other words, to use a crutch. The purpose of this project is to make the both of us think outside of our usual subjects and expand our creative defaults. The harder we make it upon ourselves, the better off we'll be creatively (or so we hope so!) come Novemeber 1st 2010.
We'll also be having different 'theme weeks' throughout the year. These themes could range from different subject matters; places, portraits, grass, sunrises, landscapes, faces, etc, etc. Or it could even be a technical theme; biggest aperature, smallest aperature, slow shutter speeds, 35mm film, camera phone fast action, etc....
We would love to hear your input throughout the course of the year. If you have ANY ideas for theme weeks or shots you'd like to see, let us know!
Oh, we both love black coffee and we both love Art Pants.
Day #91 – After two weeks in Utah, I’m back in California.
Day #80 – Its been two days since I’ve been back from my Dubai trip. Which means that I was finally able to review some of my stills and footage. The reflection and sun in the Burj tower made for nice silhouettes. Cropped down to cinematic aspect – aka Linh-o-vision. I cropped down the image...
Day #75 – Right now, as I type, I’m in Dubai for the Dubai 24H race. The race is about 5 hours in and Team Need for Speed is currently in 5th place. This sunset was from last night – taken from pit row. Excited to explore Dubai tomorrow – if I’m able to wake...
Day #72 – Hermosa Beach sunset. Was doing some primary shooting with my pin hole camera and brought the Panasonic LX2 along as backup. Really dramatic sunset that had layers and layers of tone.
Day #71 – Fitting that both Linh and I were shooting clouds. Heads in the clouds. Los Angeles doesn’t always have the best clouds, but this sunset impressed me with its blazing reds. Plus it lasted for a long time. The duration of the sunset made the drive back from the mountains better.
As I go about my travels, one of the key things I always take back with me is how the skies were; especially the colors of the sunrises, sunsets and the clouds.
North Carolina, you skies and clouds are beautiful. Goodbye, and hopefully I’ll see you again soon!
Day #69 – Put the Mt.Baldy season pass to good use – for my 4th day snowboarding this season. On the way back down the mountain the sunset was great. The smog and haze of Los Angeles playing it’s part in a nice amber gradient. 5th day riding for the season tomorrow.
Best challenge for snowboarding...
I’ve seen a lot of sunsets in 2009, this is one of the best I’ve seen in 2010 so far. North Carolina, your sunsets are amazingly beautiful.
In my pocket, I have a a device that is connected to an intangible world, called the internet; my eyes are constantly glued a 24 inch aluminum rectangle covered in thousands of tiny light bulbs called LEDs showing me pictures, video, and sound across the world in a matter of milliseconds; my feet are covered...
Day #61 – Beautiful sunsets remind me of Vanilla Sky. For the first day of 2010, this sunset was remarkable – once in a blue moon. I’ll tell you in another life, when we are both cats.
The past few days in Southern California have been absolutely gorgeous. We’ve been blessed with temperature in the floating around 80°F, and the beach today was especially gorgeous. The seas were calm, the clouds were perfect, and there was a light breeze in the air. It felt like the perfect summer day but in the...
Day #49 – El Porto, California. Long Exposure. Thirty seconds at f22.
Day #24 – Mike and Pat watch the sun melt into the Pacific Ocean. Rooftops of El Porto.
