Art Pants is a 365 day-long-daily-photography-challenge, featuring Will Roegge and Linhbergh Nguyen which was started on November 1st, 2009. Our goal is to each publish one photograph a day for an entire year. But different from usual "photo 365s" out there, we've set ourselves a rules to abide by throughout the year:
1. No photos of anything automobile related
2. No self portraits.
Both of those rules are there to prevent us from going the easy route on taking our daily photos, or in other words, to use a crutch. The purpose of this project is to make the both of us think outside of our usual subjects and expand our creative defaults. The harder we make it upon ourselves, the better off we'll be creatively (or so we hope so!) come Novemeber 1st 2010.
We'll also be having different 'theme weeks' throughout the year. These themes could range from different subject matters; places, portraits, grass, sunrises, landscapes, faces, etc, etc. Or it could even be a technical theme; biggest aperature, smallest aperature, slow shutter speeds, 35mm film, camera phone fast action, etc....
We would love to hear your input throughout the course of the year. If you have ANY ideas for theme weeks or shots you'd like to see, let us know!
Oh, we both love black coffee and we both love Art Pants.
Day #224 – Washington CloudPants. Driving down to Kent, Washington for the PGP event.
Day #222 – CJ, “the CJ” getting his pose on for the camera at PGP. Gucci Glasses, son.
- All I can hear in my head is "Still Fly"August 31, 2010 - 10:07 am
Day #221 – this photo makes me laugh for a number of reasons. The dude t-shirt, facial expression, and the context of the situation it was taken – all funny. Thanks for the cheeseburger, bro!
Day #220 – Photos from the Phone #5. This image really shows how the camera phone quality of the HTC Hero are terrible. Check out the outline and edge definition that the camera gives to make the image appear sharper. Content wise, gazing from the window seat of an airplane is a favorite flying pass time of mine.
- lol It looks like you edited in photoshop with the sketch plug in or something. The one that outlines everything. That's pretty bad :PAugust 30, 2010 - 3:32 pm
Day #219 – Looking out the plane window to the Vegas clouds that were missing all weekend, until my departure on Sunday.
Day #218 – MacDonald & Broadway. Vancouver, BC. Bus Stop. Apparently Joey added his scribble.
Day # 217 – I’m working on my chop stick skills. Guu in Richmond. More photos from the phone. Detail was not bad in black and white.
- I cannot eat with chopsticks to save my life!August 30, 2010 - 3:34 pm
Day #216 – Sometimes the best camera is the one you have on you. I don’t lug my DSLR around everywhere I travel. That would be over kill and make me look like a tourist, which I am, but try to be stealth about. This Shepard Fairey wheat paste poster is on main street in Vancouver. It also happens to be in front of an brightly painted mural, which makes for a better background.
This series is from my HTC Hero, which doesn’t take the greatest quality photos. These images are about content and moment.
- This dude is RAD :D He makes me smile.August 30, 2010 - 3:34 pm
Day #215 – Picked up a new setup for cruising around and hitting the occasional park – Kitsch board from Vancouver, BC. Really liked the graphic.
- Nice board! And good to see you back on Artpants!August 17, 2010 - 4:21 pm
Day #214 – The Black Keys are an amazing band. These birds wish they were the Black Keys. To me, these birds are awesome and make this image better by making it look like giant bats are attacking the penthouse of some yuppie apartment.
Giant Zombie Bats. That’s why there are so many Zombie Apocalypse vans in Vancouver – you know, the JDM right hand drive, 4 wheel drive, brush guard equipped machines… That are made for running down zombies during the apocalypse. Gotta go get one, you ever can be too safe.
Day #213 – The rain stopped this past weekend and the skies went from overcast to ARTPANTS quality clouds. Here some whispy left over clouds punctuate the Vancouver ceiling. West end and downtown in the bottom right.
Day #212 – From my balcony, with the 200 f2.8 – studying the sunset. Similar to the ships that adorned the Manhattan Beach pacific view that my former balcony faced. Looks like some nasty chromatic monsters on the crane.
